| PROFILE |

Giovanna Dunmall is half-English and half-Italian and has been writing ever since she made her bid to be features editor of her university's weekly newspaper back in the early 90s. She later worked for COLORS, the international bimonthly magazine based near Venice and sold in 80 countries. Each issue of the magazine focuses on a different theme and covers it from as many different perspectives as possible with the help of correspondents scattered around the globe.

After two challenging years under the editorial direction of the irascible but energetic photographer Oliviero Toscani she decided to try it on her own and moved to Rome during the hectic Jubilee year celebrations in 2000. While there she wrote about Italy, architecture, travel and social issues for various magazines and newspapers in Australia, the UK, Italy and the US. She also co-wrote the Insight guide to shopping in the Eternal City.

In mid-2006 she moved to London where she started writing about her long-time passions - green issues and ethical consumerism - and supporting several new magazine launches and small, independent publications. She continues to write about art, architecture, design and travel and regularly heads off to Italy for work and pleasure. She has just finished writing the new Wallpaper* city guide to Venice and is researching a green directory to the world with a former colleague from COLORS.

Giovanna has a first class honours BA in English and German from Kent University and a Masters in English Literature from Leeds University. She also has a postgraduate diploma in magazine journalism from Cardiff University. Her mother tongue is English and she also speaks Italian, French and German.
